Feb 01, 2018  Is there any reason a new 500GB Samsung 860 EVO would be incompatible as a replacement internal HD on a MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012)? The Samsung site says it should be compatible with SATA 3 and 1.5 Gb/s interfaces. I have installed various versions of OS X using various methods on the drive.

Then when you install the ssd and restart your iMac will be just as it was before but MUCH faster.
