The MPC Editor allows you to create program files on your PC. You can adjust various settings, such as mute groups, mixer settings, tuning, resonance, filter and most of the settings that are available. It allows you to assign samples to particular pads by dragging and dropping the sample files from the sample list to the pads. When you are done creating your application, you can either save your program or export to drive of your choice.

This application creates and saves everything as files in which you save to disk and then load from disk on the MPC2000, MPC2000XL, MPC3000 or MPC60 with OS3.1

FAQ's
'Error #11' - There is something about Protools Wav File format that I cannot quite figure out. Open the Wav file in any other audio editor and re-save 'Without non-audio info' option selected.
'Some other error #' - Most errors tend to be from no being able to write to the destination drive: Bad floppies, using HD instead of DD for MPC60, bad Zips. You should be able to open Windows File Manager/Explorer and manually copy any file to the destination drive as a test. If you can't then there is a problem with Windows recognizing the drive.
'Pitch is turned up an octave' - This is a known issue with some(?) Stereo Wav Files. Please convert the problematic wav files to mono until the fix is released.

MPC Maid is a software editor for the Akai MPC 1000, MPC 2500, and MPC 500, for Mac, PC, and other platforms (Java)

• Switch between the MPC 500 12-pads layout or the MPC 1000 16-pads layout (also takes care of the correct number of filters and sliders thanks to the built-in machine profiles).

• Simply drag and drop your samples files onto the pads, and it automatically assigns them, one on each pad or one on each sample layer.

• Export the full program and every related sample file together to the target location of your choice.

• Also features a semi-automatic slicing tool: drop your loop file to have it chopped into slices based on a beat detection mechanism.

• Direct export of the chopped slices as multiple .WAV files, one corresponding .PGM program file and one MIDI groove .MID file.

• Multiple window, one window for one program, simply drag and drop a .PGM program file will open a new window for this program.

In Windows, if Winzip or Winrar tries to decompress the file this probably means you do not have Java installed yet. Go to http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp and download the JRE (1.6 update 12 at the time of writing) then follow the very simple instructions. In 2mn you can be done.

Inspiration

MPC Maid is strongly inspired by the excellent MPC Pad 187 by Stephen Norum, that is unfortunately not portable on other OS'es than Mac OS X.
